    Dental BLS Courses

    Our Dental BLS Course is specifically available for Dental Care Professionals and all members of the dental team in the UK. This is a face to face course and not delivered online.

    Course Aims:

    The aim of this course is to develop the learners knowledge to recognise, assess and manage medical emergencies within the primary care dental setting.

    Objectives:

    To provide training in how to perform an urgent care assessment of a patient that is unwell.

    To outline the processes and procedures to recognise, manage and where required provide, basic​ ​life support for medical emergencies​ and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator.​

    Outline the​ safe and effective use of​ emergency drugs and equipment that ​are ​held ​in a ​dental ​practice.​

    Course Learning outcomes:

    Identify medical emergencies which are beyond own scope of management and take appropriate action to preserve life.

    Demonstrate the steps of basic life support for cardiac arrests in line with UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.

    Identify, prescribe, and know how to administer (where appropriate) emergency drugs correctly.

    Facilitate a team approach to medical emergencies to deal promptly and efficiently with medical emergencies that can occur with the dental care setting.

    Legislation

    First Aid Training & Legal Compliance for Dental Practices

    Dental practices are legally required to ensure their teams are trained and prepared for medical emergencies. Our training helps you meet the following key regulations:

    • Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 – Employers must provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities, and personnel to ensure employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

    • Care Quality Commission (CQC) Requirements – The CQC expects dental providers to ensure that staff are trained to deal with medical emergencies, in line with Resuscitation Council UK guidelines.

    • General Dental Council (GDC) Standards – Dental professionals are required to keep their knowledge and skills up to date, including CPR and medical emergency training.

    • Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines – Recommends that all clinical staff should be trained in basic life support annually.
